THE REPRESENTATIVE OF SSU GAVE A REPORT AT THE CONFERENCE WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE UN
At the end of September in New York City, United States of America, within the framework of Climate Week and the Summit of the Future organized at the General Assembly of the United Nations, the 8th conference dedicated to activities "Higher education institutions on the promotion of environmental cleanliness"ended.
Sadagat Fatullayeva, senior lecturer of the department of philosophy, sociology and political science of Sumgait State University, was invited by the jury as a speaker to the event moderated by Jamal Bouman, the congressman of the US Senate. The "Promotion of environmental cleanliness" nomination aims to evaluate ATM"s activities in the direction of improving the environment, restoring and increasing greenery, and promoting the efficient use of water resources and sustainable energy sources. In the report of the SSU representative, the work done in this area in our country was discussed, in connection with the declaration of 2024 by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World", December 25, 2023, "29 of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change" (COP29), the 19th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol and the 6th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement" signed on January 13, 2024, Azerbaijan"s "Until 2030 State Strategy on Socio-Economic Development" (one of its 5 national priorities is "Clean environment and green growth country"), in this context,the information was provided about the work carried out in our university in the direction of the implementation of the aforementioned documents was mentioned "Global Sustainable Development Congress" held on June 13, 2024 in Bangkok, the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand, where the decision regarding the "Action Plan within the framework of the Year of Solidarity for a Green World" adopted by the Scientific Council on January 18, 2024 was approved by the rector of SSU ", as well as,the presentation of SSU rector Rufat Azizov at the "Azerbaijani experience in the field of sustainable development" session, the strategic goals set by the university only for the year 2024, its participation in international projects and researches, prestigious global events, including world rating systems (links in electronic resources) , certificates, etc.).
