On February 3, Sumgayit State University hosted the next meeting of the rector"s office on the state of preparation for pedagogical, production and research, scientific and pedagogical internships at the bachelor"s and master"s levels to be held in the 2020/2021 academic year in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the state of preparation for the spring semester of the 2020/2021 academic year, the discussion of proposals on the perspective development of Sumgayit State University. Rector of SSU, Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the participants and informed them about the issues on the agenda. He noted that teaching at SSU is carried out at a high level in the current situation and spoke about the development of teaching and scientific activities of the university in all areas.

Director of the Teaching Methodological Center Faig Shirinov spoke about the state of preparation for pedagogical, production and research, scientific and pedagogical practices to be held at the undergraduate level in the 2020/2021 academic year. He said that the internship is planned to be held from February 16 to May 25. As it is not possible to have an internship due to the pandemic, the deans of the faculties suggest that students be given topics appropriate to their specialties and that students prepare a 25-30-page essay. Due to the pandemic, our students will traditionally spend 3 days in high school during the pedagogical practice. Students in the districts and regions will participate in the internship for 2 days online. Once a week, there will be an online lesson with practice leaders. Students undergoing internships will be presented with a slide of technological equipment. They will be informed about the working mechanism of this equipment, the rules of how to deal with them. If the pandemic is eliminated from April 1, the experiment will be carried out in the traditional way.

Associate Professor Sabir Khalilov, Head of the Doctoral and Master"s Department at the Master"s level, spoke about the state of preparation for scientific research and scientific-pedagogical practices to be held at the master"s level in the 2020/2021 academic year. He noted that taking into account the current sanitary-epidemiological situation in the country (COVID-19), it is planned to conduct experiments at the master"s level as follows. From February 16 to March 15 - Scientific research, from March 16 to April 12 will be scientific pedagogical practice. 1. An abstract on the research part of the master"s dissertation will be prepared. For this purpose, a calendar-thematic plan of the abstract should be prepared under the supervision of the supervisor, and at the end of the internship the abstract should be handed over to the department. 2. Lesson schedule for scientific pedagogical practice is prepared and approved by the department. The master"s student attends online classes with a work schedule and must organize open classes at least once or twice. Speaking on the issues of the agenda, the deans of the faculties said that all the work on the traditional internship has been carried out, a list of students who will participate in the internship has been prepared and the students have been informed about it. Students in pedagogical practice will have an internship in secondary schools in Sumgayit.

Deans of faculties spoke about the state of preparation for the spring semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. They said that preparations for the spring semester are nearing completion. Work on lesson schedules has been completed. Natig Talibov, Vice-Rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies, spoke about the proposals on the perspective development of Sumgayit State University. He noted that the University"s Strategic Development Plan covers the years 2020-2025 and was developed taking into account the development prospects of the university. The Vice-Rector also noted that the annual action plan should be discussed and new proposals should be submitted, taking into account the goals in the priority areas of the University"s Strategic Development Plan. Then there was an exchange of views in this direction, the rector gave instructions and recommendations on the work to be done. He instructed to establish a working group on the Strategic Development Plan of the University. The rector also noted that the repair work in the university dormitory has been accelerated, and in the next academic year, each student will be selected with the participation of students in the academic group. At the end of the meeting, it was noted that all proposals should be systematized, proposals for the near and distant future should be identified and all possible opportunities should be used to implement these proposals as effectively as possible.
