AZERBAIJAN IS A SUPPORTER OF COEXISTENCE AND LASTING PEACE IN THE REGION
At a press conference for local and foreign journalists on February 26, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev touched upon very important issues for our republic and the region. The President clarified the realities of the processes taking place in the region after the signing of the November 10 Declaration, and in response to journalists" questions, expressed his views on the current situation in detail.
Answering the questions, he said: "Our peoples must live in peace. After that, there are clear ideas about the coexistence of the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples. Thousands of Armenians live in Azerbaijan. We have a great history of living together with the Armenian people. Both in Armenia, Azerbaijan and other countries. For example, there are villages in Georgia where Azerbaijanis and Armenians live in the same village. We are a country open to cooperation, and people of different nationalities have lived in Azerbaijan as a family for centuries. There has never been any confrontation or misunderstanding in Azerbaijan on religious or national grounds,” the President said, adding that it was not accidental that the press conference was held on the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The President reminded the world community of the terrible consequences of the Khojaly genocide committed by the Armenian fascists at every opportunity and stated that this tragedy will never be forgotten.
At the press conference demonstrating high diplomatic skills and oratory skills, the head of state expressed his attitude to all topical issues based on fluent, logical and accurate facts, listened to, answered about 50 questions from more than 35 media outlets around the world, and demonstrated to the world that he was a professional politician. As every interview given by President Ilham Aliyev to more than 30 foreign media outlets in different languages during the 44-day war was a guarantee of Azerbaijan"s victory in the information war, the 4-hour press conference held on February 26 was to bring to the attention of the world media the new reality that Azerbaijan has already created in the region. The press conference is of great importance in terms of conveying the realities of Azerbaijan to the world, clarifying the new realities in the region and the future of the region.
During the press conference, the head of state once again warned the revanchist forces in Armenia and said that the violation of the agreements would be a suicide for Armenia, as Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
Undoubtedly, ensuring lasting peace is one of the key factors in ensuring the development of the region. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani state is doing its best to maintain peace in the region. The President openly told the international media that Azerbaijan"s goal is to restore communications in a tripartite way - with Armenia and Russia, to establish the Zangazur corridor and to remove all obstacles in terms of transport. This cooperation, the steps taken, in turn, serve to ensure lasting peace in the region.
"All nations living in Azerbaijan have the same rights. Armenians living in Karabakh are Azerbaijani citizens. People who speak different languages in Azerbaijan have all the rights and privileges. They have access to education. Let us take into account that the Armenian community living in those areas can speak Armenian to each other, during the Soviet era, newspapers were published in Armenian in our region, and there were special programs. Like all other languages, the Armenian language will be protected in Azerbaijan,” the head of state said, noting that Azerbaijan is a universal example of the historical model of coexistence.
