The meetings are regularly held by prosecuting authorities according to assignments of President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev about worthily serving people and solving the problems of citizens attentively.

On November 13, prosecutor of Sumgayit city Sardar Imanov met the students at Sumgayit State University.

Firstly, the event participants commemorated the memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev by putting bunch of flowers on his bust in the foyer of the university.

Afterwards the prosecutor got acquainted with the university and viewed the books dedicated to National leader Heydar Aliyev and the photos in Heydar Aliyev Center, displaying all stages of his life and activity and his visits to foreign countries as a president of independent Azerbaijan Republic, meetings with leading state figures.

Then the prosecutor met the students.

Rector of university Professor Elkhan Huseynov hailed the prosecutor of Sumgayit city Sardar Imanov and expressed his satisfaction on seeing him at the university. He congratulated everyone on occasion of centennial of establishment of Procurator’s Office and wished them success.

He appreciated the role of prosecuting authorities in strengthening Azerbaijani statehood, providing legality and struggling against criminality and emphasized the significance of the meeting. Rector noted: “The Procurator’s Office, whose status is adjusted via constitution norms for its role in the activity of the state, has gained great confidence since its establishment. It has a substantial place in provision of human rights and freedoms, abolishing obstacles in front of the democratic advancement, conducting judicial reforms successfully, forming judgment proper to international demands”.

Rector also spoke about reconstruction works and successful reforms conducted in the city under the administration of head of Sumgayit Executive Power Zakir Farajov. He noted: “Development of our country depends on the improvement of the regions. There is not a single region that new production and service fields are not being established. Sumgayit is one of these regions that are developing rapidly. State support to the city under the administration of President Ilham Aliyev founded new stage of development here. As a consequence of successful economic and social policy of the President, Sumgayit has gained great achievements. After appointment of Zakir Farajov the mayor of Sumgayit Executive Power, the city has become the construction arena”.

Prosecutor of Sumgayit city Sardar Imanov expressed his gratitude to Professor Elkhan Huseynov, professor-teaching and student staff for sincere welcome. He notified that normative-juridical base was set for provision of predominance of law, formulating and perfecting civil society in our independent republic as a consequence of National leader. “Substantial works have been done in the field of struggle against corruption, public self-control issues and provision of transparency as a result of care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev to the prosecuting authorities. Thus, the President signed an Order “About strengthening struggle against the corruption in the Republic of Azerbaijan” in 2000 and the Order “On the struggle against corruption” came into force. The object of the Order is determining outcomes of corruption, preventing, researching and abolishing them.

The purpose of holding the meeting at Sumgayit State University is organizing enlightenment among youth and conducting psychological and legal protection of persons, who suffer from the juridical problems.

It was highlighted in the event that the meetings will be held regularly in the future for informing the students of the changes made in legislation in the field of struggle against corruption.
