Our Students Commemorated Victims of March 31 Genocide

An event dedicated to March 31 – Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis was held at the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics.
First, victims of the genocide were commemorated with a minute of silence.
Dean of the faculty docent Tamella Ahmadova opening the event noted that Armenians committed several genocides last century. She notified that the tragedy of March, 1918 is one of the most horrible crimes which Azerbaijanis encountered. Crimes committed in Baki, Shamakhi, Guba, Lankaran, Salyan, Zangazur and Nakhchivan were led by Shaumyan. As a result of those crime acts hundreds of residential areas were destroyed, thousands of Azerbaijanis were killed brutally and many people were expelled from their homes. With Heydar Aliyev’s order “On genocide of Azerbaijanis” signed on March 26, 1998 a full and comprehensive legal and political assessment was given to the actions of the Armenian nationalists. Guba Genocide Memorial Complex established with the support of Heydar Aliyev Fund plays an important role in informing the world community.
Students of physics and electroenergetics faculty Givami Safaraliyev, Ayyub Sadigov and a first year student of mathematics faculty Aysun Alizade talked about ethnic cleansing and genocide policy, atrocities and invasions by Armenians against our nation. They emphasized that today we have to inform the world, international organizations about genocides and expose their brutal actions. The world should know the historical truth and the essence of the events.
After speeches a film on Azerbaijani people’s deportation and genocide was demonstrated.
