On October 21, Student Olympiad on information technologies was held associated with 55th anniversary of the university.
Qafar Atayev, vice-rector on Correspondence, distant and extra-education opened the event and noted that Sumgayit State University is on the eve of its 55th anniversary. For this purpose series of events, meetings, olympiad, spartakiad and conferences are held.
Recently, important measures are taken for strengthening the material and technical base of educational institutions of the country. This process is carried out not only in the capital, but also in the regions. Sumgayit State University is the only university in the city and it tries to implement successful projects in order to respond to labour market and prepare competitive highly skilled staff. In Sumgayit State University teachers with scientific degrees in specialty disciplines are preffered and advanced training technologies are used in teaching. Modern technologies have access to all areas of our life, since the 20th century is age of information-communication technologies. All auditoriums, laboratories, scientific library, cabinets and centers of the university are provided with modern equipment and ICT. Excellence of ICT infrastructure in education system and application of ICT to reach world standards is priority in our country.
Vice-rector also notified that Sumgayit State University has begun to apply electronic management system. Teaching, personnel, document circulation, electronic library, accounting and other fields are managed via electronic system. Registration process of students has totally been electronized. According to the order by Ministry of Education, innovations have been made in the system, full time and part time education forms are considered, student cards are made in new electronical form and QR code has been located on it. Students can get acquainted with their scores, orders, fees and all other information related to the university.
Today, rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov has special services in strengthening material-technical base, making its structure more modern, correct arrangement of its scientific-pedagogical potential, connecting and developing connections with republican and foreign educational and scientific institutions. We believe that Student Olympiad on Information Technologies dedicated 55 year anniversary stimulates students. Students who show high results will be employed by the university administration.
Finally, Olympiad started. It will be held in two stages and it comprises 50+2 questions.
