Elkhan Huseynov: Azerbaijan is one of the countries with vast experience in organization of competitions of international importance
Sumgayit State University which is one of the prestigious universities of Azerbaijan and contributing to the improvement of scientific-intellectual potential of society is on the eve of its 55th Anniversary. Series of events are held on occasion of the jubilee in our university, as well as spartakiad was started on 6 types of sport (mini-football, draughts, volleyball, table tennis, shooting and badminton) in our university.
Healthy society means healthy future and sports formulate healthy society. Nowadays, our sports is growing up day by day and bringing about many successful achievements accordingly. The rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov pays special attention and care not only to education and science, but also to sport with the guidance of President Ilham Aliyev’s  quote :“ Our wish is not only the victory of our athletes in the international contests but also their healthy growing up”. Our students show good results in European and world championships run on various types of sport every year. We are so lucky that, student – athletes of Sumgayit State University are contributing to Azerbaijani treasure of victories. They represent our country worthily in the several international contests by waving its tree-colored flag.
On October 20, the competition was run on badminton among faculties. The rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov watched the contest. Fourth course student of faculty of Physics and electroenergetics Emin Asgarov met with second course student of faculty of Chemistry and biology Mammadbaghir Akhundov. Last one gained a victory.
Rector congratulated winner student. He notified that, this project which is realized for healthy lifestyle and improving interest to sports, is not of great importance only for physical health, but also for spiritual nurture of youth and their growth with spirit of patriotism. Sports policy was founded by Great leader Heydar Aliyev and is being successfully continued by President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev. Rector emphasized that, Azerbaijan is one of the countries with vast experience in organization of competitions of international importance. Europe and World Championships, World cup contests are held in a high level in our capital.
Ministry of Education pays special attention to sport for increasing its publicity among teenagers and youth, for spending their free time meaningful and productive. The Ministry collaborates with several sports related organizations and the works conducted in this field and realized events are quite commendable. After Mikayil Jabbarov’s election as the president of Azerbaijan Federation of Badminton and Fencing, several events were carried out for developing these types of sports and its publicity.
At the end of his speech, rector wished success to the students participating in the spartakiad.
