Has held an event dedicated to 31 March, the “Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis”

The genocide policy against Azerbaijani people by Armenians is pursued for about 200 years. 31 March genocide became one of the terrible and bloody genocides in the history of our nation. On this occasion, our country has been celebrating this date every year and some several events are being dedicated to that memory. Meanwhile, SSU joined to that activities and arranged an event accordingly on March 31.
Before the beginning, the attendees of an event stood for a minute silence in order to memorize the victims of the genocide. The rector of the University Mr. E. Huseynov made an opening speech and notified that through the history Armenians pursued an aggressive policy against our nation and time by time they made genocides against our nation with an aim to establish the Great Armenian state from sea to sea, meanwhile they made their key goal to get our historical lands with the help of their supporters. Only last century Azerbaijani people underwent genocide four times which accompanied by the deportations and the degrading acts (1905-19 07, 1918-1920, 1948-1953, 1988 – 1993). In 1918, Armenians killed widely about 12 thousands peaceful people in Baku only during 3 days. Besides, such kind of action of Armenians continued in the regions of the country such as Ganja, Guba, Khachmaz, Shamakhi, Lankaran, Mugan and etc. During the March terrible events many cities and regions of the country were ruined as well as more than 150 villages of the Garabagh region. Namely, Shusha, the city of Garbakg region underwent unbelievable massacre and destruction. Meanwhile, during these terrible actions more than 50 thousand Azerbaijani people including 30 thousand people in Baku were killed and some mosques, schools and other venues were burnt and ruined. Besides, only in Zangazur were ruined 115 villages as well as 211 villages in Iravan Khanate.
The rector noted as well that since the return of the great leader Haydar Aliyev to the power, he took a strong attitude towards this matter and made a lot in order to reveal the real face of Armenian nationalists which was consist of genocides and deportation acts against our nation. The genocides and deportation acts against our nation has gained a political status on the basis of Decree “about genocide of Azerbaijani people” by a great leader issued on March 26 in 1998. Nowadays, under the leadership of the president Mr. Ilham Aliyev many consistent and expedient works are done in order to remove the results of Armenian aggression, to provide the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our republic and to propagate the fair position of the country among the leading countries and reputable organizations of the world. The Order by the president of the country “about the establishment of Memorial Complex for the genocide in Guba city”, dated December 30, 2009, is one of the significant steps made towards that direction. The role of Haydar Aliyev Fund in this direction shall be specially underlined. That body makes a lot of projects in this direction under the leadership of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the first lady of our country and a goodwill ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO. Namely, Haydar Aliyev Fund set a target to deliver the realities on genocide to the world’s attention by the means of several projects and activities. In the end of the speech, the rector noted that Armenians made through 200 years history the territorial claims not only against Azerbaijan but also against Turkey, Iran and Georgia. That policy by Armenians still is active.
Afterwards, the dean of the faculty of History and Geography, Professor Mr. Adil Bakhshaliyev, the lecturer of the department of History Mrs. Gunay Shukurova and the second course student of the faculty of History and Geography Mr. Ali Miraliyev made the speeches accordingly. Namely, Mr. A. Bakshaliyev dedicated his speech to the subject “March Genocide in 1918”, the subject of Mr. G. Shukurova was about “The deportation of Azerbaijani people from their historical ethnic lands, from Western Azerbaijan in 1948-1953” and at last the subject of the student dedicated to the “Garabagh war and genocide policy started by Armenian in 1988”. Relying on the facts, the speakers widely spoke about the genocides and massacres made by Armenians in the native territories of Azerbaijan in last century which powered by the Armenian Dashnak Party.
