SSU has held an Olympiad on subjects of Chemistry and Biology in December 24. “The state strategy on development of education of Azerbaijan Republic” is included the main directions in order to identify the talented youth and to develop their skills. The Olympiads and knowledge contests play a big role for the identification of talented youth. SSU realizes this big mission and arranges different knowledge contests for the students regularly.  It should be noted that the subject Olympiad is one of the innovations of last period. The main goal of the Olympiad is to increase the interest of the pupils in different subjects, to provide the conditions in order they to demonstrate their skills and abilities. Meanwhile, it serves to formulate the complete competition sense and to identify talented youth. 
It should be noted that the Olympiad was arranged for the pupils of 9,10 and 11 classes of Sumgait city that interested in biology and chemistry. However, some pupils of 8th class joined the competition as well. At the same time Baku city represented in this contest by the pupils of lyceum “Kaspi”.
The evaluation of the results was conducted by the system of 10 points. Each section was divided into the 5 questions and tasks and the maximum evaluation score was 50 points. The results of pupils of Russian and Azerbaijani sectors were systematized and the winners have been awarded with the diplomas of Honor by the rector, professor Elkhan Huseynov. It should be noted that Mr  Nizami Namazov (the head of Education Office of Sumgait city) played a big role in the organization of Olympiad.
