On April 16, an event on the topic “Smart Cities: The Role and Opportunities of Youth” was organized at Sumgayit State University (SSU) by the Student Youth Organization (SYO) within the framework of WUF13. Deputy Chairman of SYO Oruj Guliyev spoke at the opening speech, gave information about the relevance of the topic and said that in modern times, technology is rapidly penetrating all spheres of life. The “Smart City” concept is one of the most important and relevant manifestations of this development. In this regard, the reports to be delivered within the framework of the event will arouse great interest. Then, senior lecturer of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Ecology of the Faculty of Engineering, Azada Aliyeva made presentations on the topics “Smart Cities: Sustainable Solutions to Environmental Problems”, and senior lecturer of the Department of Business Administration of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Ismayil Amirli made presentations on the topics “Career Opportunities for Youth in Building Smart Cities”. The speakers spoke about the digitalization process of modern cities, the application of smart technologies in various fields and the important role this approach plays in improving the quality of urban life. At the same time, the contributions of smart solutions to solving environmental problems and new career prospects for young people in this field were highlighted. They also provided information about the essence of smart cities, their main components, smart transport and mobility, energy and network systems, as well as the interaction of these components and career opportunities for young people.
