In order to strengthen the professional training of students and consolidate their theoretical knowledge with practical activities, the organization of industrial, pedagogical and scientific-research internships, which are an integral part of the educational process, is of particular importance at Sumgayit State University. These internship programs implemented by the university serve to familiarize students with the real work environment appropriate to their specialties and prepare them for future professional activities. In the 2025/2026 academic year, a total of 1,124 students studying in the IV and V courses at Sumgayit State University were provided with internship places at various institutions and organizations. According to statistical indicators, 547 of these students participate in pedagogical, 481 in industrial, and 196 in scientific-research internships. This distribution shows that practical training in various specialties is systematically organized at the university.

It should be noted that the production practices of students studying in technical and engineering directions are mainly organized in the leading industrial and technological enterprises of the country. Among these enterprises are “SOCAR Polymer” LLC, “SOCAR Carbamide” Plant, “Azerikimya” Production Association, “Binagadi Oil Company”, “CyberNet”, “Aztelekom” LLC, “Qartal Construction”, “Fuad” LLC, “United Water Supply Service of Large Cities” LLC of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, “Azerishig” OJSC Transport and Logistics Center, “Sumgayit High Voltage Electric Network” LLC, SOCAR Oil and Gas Scientific Research Project Institute, “Mining International Company”, “CODE Academy”, “TECHNOCARE” LLC, Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, “Baku International Sea Trade Port” CJSC, “Polo Travel” LLC and “Sumgayit Plaza Hotel” enterprises. The practices of students studying in the scientific and research direction are mainly organized in the leading scientific institutions of the country. In this direction, the Academician Y.Mammadaliyev Institute of Petrochemical Processes, Azerbaijan Metrology Institute, Physics Institute, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute, Vegetable Research Institute, Institute of Polymer Materials operating under Sumgayit State University, Nizami Ganjavi Literature Institute, as well as scientific and research institutions such as the United Center Rehabilitation and Development Center, the “Qüsursuz Nitq” Center, the Scientific Research Institute of Psychology and the Institute of Mathematics act as a practice base. The practices of students studying in humanitarian and social directions, especially in History and Geography, are mainly organized in state administration and public organizations. Within this framework, students undergo internships in various city and district executive authorities, local government bodies, the New Azerbaijan Party, the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Employment Agency, the Absheron-Khizi Regional Employment Branch, the Absheron-Khizi Regional Branch of the Social Services Agency, as well as the Sumgayit City History Museum. Pedagogical internships of students studying in pedagogical specialties are organized in general education institutions. In this direction, students undergo pedagogical internships in “Dunya School”, “Hadaf Lyceum”, “Kaspi Lyceum”, “Zirve Lyceum”, as well as Sumgayit city general education schools and lyceums operating under the Absheron-Khizi Regional Education Department of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As a result, the cooperation established by the university with various enterprises and organizations expands the practical training opportunities of students and creates favorable conditions for a successful start to their future professional activities.
