On March 11, the staff of Sumgayit State University (SSU) and a group of students visited the family of the university's Engineering Faculty graduate, martyr Elnur Samedov, on his birthday, and laid flowers at his grave, paying tribute to his dear memory. The visit was also attended by head of the Department for Organizing Work with the Families of Patriotic War Participants and Martyrs of the Sumgayit City Executive Power, Tarlan Hajizade. Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations of SSU, Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov spoke during the visit, expressed his pride in the courage shown by martyr Elnur Samedov in defense of the Motherland. He noted that Elnur Samedov, a graduate of the university, is an example for the younger generations with his honorable life path, patriotism and heroism. The Vice-Rector emphasized that the memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland is always held high and their dear memory will always be commemorated with respect. During the meeting, the family members of the martyr expressed their gratitude to the country's leadership for the attention and care shown. They said that they were always proud of Elnur Samadov who heroically fought for the Motherland and rose to the peak of martyrdom. It should be noted that the group commander of the 2nd Legendary Battalion, senior intelligence lieutenant Elnur Samedov, showed special bravery in the August battles of 2014, the April battles of 2016, and the Second Karabakh War. He heroically rose to the peak of martyrdom on September 13, 2022, while preventing an enemy provocation in the Kalbajar direction. Martyr Elnur Samadov was awarded the Order of the "Azerbaijan Flag" by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the medals "For the Liberation of Jabrayil", "For the Liberation of Fuzuli" and "For the Liberation of Kalbajar".
