5 students of Sumgayit State University (SSU) have been awarded the “Trade Union Scholarship”. The scholarship was presented by the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers, a member organization of the Azerbaijan Confederation of Trade Unions, to students distinguished by their high academic performance and active participation in the student trade union movement. The award ceremony was attended by the leadership of the confederation, rectors of higher education institutions, chairmen of student union committees, and students. The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the Motherland.  The speeches emphasized that the youth policy founded by the Great Leader is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev today. It was noted that consistent measures are being taken in the country to reveal the potential of young people, strengthen their social protection and increase access to quality education. The contributions made by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to the development of the young generation and the importance of the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in education and other areas were also highlighted. It was noted that the “Trade Union Scholarship” program plays an important role in stimulating students with high academic performance and social activism. Based on the results of the summer exam session of the 2024–2025 academic year, a total of 250 students across the republic were awarded this scholarship. Among the scholarship recipients were students of the Faculty of Mathematics of SSU, Zarifa Samadzade and Gulchin Hashimova, a student of the Faculty of Engineering, Mammad Aliyev, and students of the Faculty of History and Geography, Ayten Ahmadova and Elnur Askerov.
