On February 18, the winners of the table tennis, checkers, and volleyball sports competitions dedicated to the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture" were awarded at Sumgayit State university (SSU).
At the award ceremony, Acting Rector of SSU, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Aminaga Sadigov spoke about the role of sports in society and the state care shown to this area in our country. He emphasized that as in all areas, continuous development is observed in the field of sports in our country, and the development of sports is one of the priority directions of state policy. The systematic and consistent organization of sports life at SSU is of particular importance for both students and employees. Sports competitions make a significant contribution to the evaluation of students’ and employees’ leisure time, as well as to the strengthening of the collective spirit at the university.
Then the winning teams were awarded. The winners were presented with honorary certificates, cups and valuable gifts. Gratitude was expressed to the university’s Sports Club for the high-level organization and successful holding of the competition.
It should be noted that teams consisting of employees of SSU and Sumgayit Technical College demonstrated their skills in competitions organized by the Trade Union Committee and Sports Club of the university from February 9 to 13. The table tennis team consisting of employees of the department took 1st place, the team of the Faculty of Natural Sciences took 2nd place, and the team of the Faculty of Mathematics took 3rd place. In the checkers tournament, the Faculty of Engineering took 1st place, the Faculty of Philology took 2nd place, and the Faculty of History and Geography took 3rd place. In the volleyball competition, the team of the Faculty of Natural Sciences took 1st place, the team of the Faculty Mathematics took 2nd place, and the Faculty of Philology took 3rd place.
