On February 9, Multidisciplinary Engineering Winter School began its activities at Sumgayit State University (SSU). The Winter School was organized at the initiative of the SSU Career and Alumni Center of SSU.
Acting Rector of SSU, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov spoke at the opening ceremony, said that the Multidisciplinary Engineering Winter School is an important academic and practical platform for students studying in engineering. He noted that in modern times, a multidisciplinary approach is of particular importance in the training of engineering personnel, and such programs develop not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills, analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities of students.
Aminaga Sadigov emphasized that the Winter School forms students' skills in approaching real problems arising at the intersection of various engineering fields, familiarizes them with the current demands of the industrial environment and the labor market. A.Sadigov noted that innovative initiatives aimed at the professional development of students at the university are constantly supported and wished the participants success.
Then, Director of the Career and Alumni Center of SSU, Anar Dunyamaliyev made a speech and said that the main goal of the Winter School is to increase the level of students' readiness for the labor market, form a multidisciplinary mindset in them, and acquire skills in accordance with the requirements of the real sector. He emphasized that the trainings conducted in the format of project-based learning and teamwork make a significant contribution to the development of students' communication and project management skills.
In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Ulduz Agayev highlighted the importance of not only specialized knowledge, but also analytical thinking, a flexible approach, and the ability to establish connections between different fields in order to achieve success in the field of engineering.
Trainings have been launched within the framework of the program. The first training of the winter school was held by Chief Consulting Engineer of the Azerbaijan Water Resources Agency, Fuad Javadzade on the topic of “Progressive engineering and multidisciplinary solutions in strategic water management”. During the training, the speaker touched upon the current challenges facing modern engineering, emphasized the strategic importance of water resources, and noted the need for innovative approaches in this area and the integration of knowledge in various engineering fields.
It should be noted that the Multidisciplinary Engineering Winter School was organized by SOCAR Polymer, GILTEX, Azersun companies, Qartal Construction Company, EDU Company, Holberton School, as well as the Student Trade Union Committee of Sumgayit State University, as partners and sponsors, supporting the successful implementation of the project. This cooperation allowed for the training to be practical, real sector-oriented and of high quality.
