A reporting meeting dedicated to the results of the socio-economic development of Sumgayit in 2025 and the tasks ahead was held in the city. The event, organized at the "Kimyachi" Cultural Palace, was attended by the Head of the Sumgayit City Executive Power, Zakir Farajov, representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, deputies of the Milli Majlis, heads of city departments and enterprises, and representatives of other organizations. The report meeting was also attended by the acting rector of Sumgayit State University, Aminaga Sadigov. The participants of the event first visited the monument to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, laid flowers in front of it, and respectfully commemorated his memory. Then, the memory of the Great Leader and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.
The head of the Sumgayit city executive power, Zakir Farajov spoke about the achievements in the socio-economic development of the city and emphasized that Sumgayit, in addition to being an industrial center, has also achieved significant successes in the fields of science and education. During his speech, he noted that Sumgayit State University plays a special role in the formation of the city's scientific and intellectual potential, and that the university's academic successes are gratifying. Zakir Farajov said that Sumgayit State University is the pride of Sumgayit. The university contributes to the growth of the city's and the country's prestige by gaining worthy positions in international rankings. Ideological work is also carried out here at a high level. Other speakers at the event also analyzed the achievements of Sumgayit in 2025 and shared their views on the upcoming tasks and development prospects.
Finally, an appeal was made to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, on behalf of the participants of the reporting meeting.
