On December 17, the next meeting of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University (SSU) was held.
Chairman of the council, Acting Rector of SSU, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Aminaga Sadigov opened the meeting, welcomed the participants. He reported that doctoral students and young researchers participated in the XXVIII Republican Scientific Conference (NASCO XXVIII) and that a Memorandum on cooperation between SSU and Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University was signed within the framework of the conference. Aminaga Sadigov brought to the attention of the council members the main theses of the speech of the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev at the conference, noted that effective measures are being implemented in all higher education institutions of our country and a serious competitive environment exists. In this regard, we must further strengthen our activities and work systematically to increase the achievements of our university in the rankings. In this direction, a great responsibility falls on every employee of the university.
Then, the Scientific Secretary, Professor Mukhtar Samedov brought to attention the issues on the agenda. The agenda has been approved.
Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Associate Professor Elshad Abdullayev spoke about the state of preparation for the examination session of the fall semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, noted that the heads of departments, deans of faculties and heads of other relevant structural units have been instructed to fully prepare and submit all necessary documents related to the organization and holding of the examination session by December 26. Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Associate Professor Elshad Abdullayev also provided information on the results of the certifications of master's, doctoral and dissertation students.
Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov spoke about the work done to educate students and young people in the spirit of patriotism and the tasks ahead. The Scientific Council positively assessed the work done to form students and young people in the spirit of patriotism.
The meeting continued with a discussion of current issues. The meeting discussed the working curriculum and tuition fees for the preparatory course for foreign citizens, some additions to the requirements for the transfer of SSU employees to the position of associate professor, approval of the SSU “Professional Development Policy” document, as well as the regulations on individual structures of SSU, and relevant decisions were made taking into account the proposals and recommendations of the Council members.
Then, the topic and scientific supervisor of the dissertation work of Gulshan Huseynzade a former doctoral student of the Department of Accounting and Economics, were approved. The Scientific Secretary also informed about the granting of the right to publish to teaching materials and said that the Scientific Council received 11 teaching materials, of which 4 are textbooks, 3 are methodological materials and 4 are subject programs. After the discussions, permission was granted to publish teaching and methodological materials.
