Educational event held dedicated to the World AIDS Day
 On November 19, an event was held at Sumgayit State University by the Sumgayit Regional Laboratory of the Republican Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Center to commemorate December 1 - World AIDS Day. At the event, Vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, associate professor Elmar Khalilov gave a speech and noted that one of the most serious global problems of XXI century is Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/AIDS and the serious consequences of this illness that has for human life and society. He emphasized the importance of the fight against AIDS and the importance of the youth having a healthy lifestyle. Head of the Sumgayit Regional Laboratory of the Center, Ilkane Mehyeddinova spoke about founding date of World AIDS Day. She stressed that since 1988 every year December 1st is celebrated as World AIDS Day. She provided extensive information about the social characteristics of HIV, ways of to get infected and consequences it creates. Then leaflets about the discussed topic were distributed among the participants. At the end of the event, students and university employees underwent the HIV test by the specialists of the center voluntarily.
