On November 14, another educational info session was held at Sumgayit State University within the framework of the project “National Press 150 – Youth and Media Literacy in Digital Era” jointly organized by The Media Development Agency, Youth Foundation of Republic of Azerbaijan and “Regional Development” Public Union. At the opening of the event, Vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, associate professor Elmar Khalilov welcomed the participants and emphasized the role of “Ekinchi” newspaper in the formation of the new intellectual generation and the education development, also in the period of independence, the impetus given to the media environment by the abolition of censorship by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and Mr. President Ilham Aliyev’s continuous support to the development of the media. Head of the Media Support Projects and Strategic Planning Department of the Media Development Agency, Mehriban Mammadova and a representative of the “Regional Development” Public Union, Bakhtiyar Aliyev stated in their speeches that promoting of the media literacy and in addition to being one of the challenges of the day, plays an important role in ensuring national security and has a significant impact on the formation of the correct position of young people in the information environment, as well as the promotion of healthy information behavior. Representative of the Media Analysis Center, researcher journalist Yunis Orujov emphasized in his speech that unity and will shown by Azerbijani youth during the Patriotic War recalled the special importance of the main principles of investigative journalism: objectivity, reliance on facts, and reliability of sources, and answered questions from the participants.
