On November 3, an inter-faculty mini-football competition dedicated to "November 8 - Victory Day" has launched at Sumgayit State University. The competition was jointly organized by the University Sports Club and the Student Trade Union Committee. First, the memory of our martyrs who died for the independence and freedom of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence. At the opening ceremony, the university's Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov addressed the participants and spoke about the history of Victory, the heroic chronicle of our people, and the valor of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces under the leadership of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized that our people achieved this magnificent victory thanks to the determination and struggle of our patriotic and selfless youth. The presence of graduates and students of Sumgayit State University among those heroic young people is a source of pride for the university community. At the end of his speech, Elmar Khalilov wished the participants success in sports and education, and called on them to always represent the name of the university worthily.
Then, the head of the Sports Club, Associate Professor Zakir Mammadov made a speech and emphasized that such sports events play an important role in the physical development of young people, as well as in the formation of a spirit of patriotism, and wished the participants success.
After the speeches, the inter-faculty mini-football competition started.
