An interfaculty checkers competition dedicated to the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" was organized at Sumgayit State University. The competition was jointly organized by the university"s Sports Club and the Trade Union Committee.
At the opening of the event, the university"s vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, associate professor Elmar Khalilov addressed the participants and welcomed them, emphasizing that sports play an important role in the formation of a healthy lifestyle among young people and in the effective use of leisure time. In the competition, 7 teams consisting of students from Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit State Technical College competed for the first place. According to the results of the intense and interesting competition, the university"s Faculty of Mathematics took 1st place, the Faculty of Nature took 2nd place, and the team from the Faculty of Philology took 3rd place. The winners were awarded certificates.
