The presentation ceremony of the I volume was held at the Sumgayit City Executive Power and the Western Azerbaijani community in the Sumgayit State Drama Theater "Western Azerbaijani Heritage: Systematic Disposal of Cemeteries and Materials of Cemeteries on International Legal Liability. Before the event, the participants visited the monument to the National Leader in the Heydar Aliyev Central Park and laid flowers in front of it. Then, an exhibition of paintings about Western Azerbaijan was viewed in the theater lobby. The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the heroes who died for the territorial integrity of our country. This was followed by a video clip from the “Western Azerbaijan Heritage” research series. Speaking at the event, First Deputy Head of Sumgayit City Executive Power Teymur Samadov thanked everyone who contributed to the creation of this publication, especially the West Azerbaijan Community. He noted that this book is of great importance in terms of conveying to the international community the voice of our people, based on the memory of their people, the historical reality and truth regarding the lands they were forcibly separated from. In his speech, the rector of Sumgayit State University, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Aminaga Sadigov evaluated the book “Western Azerbaijan Heritage” as a serious scientific research work. He noted that the archival documents, photographs and materials contained in this publication are very important in terms of restoring historical justice, documenting the ancestry of Azerbaijanis and communicating it to the international community. Noting that modern research methods and technologies were used to create the book, A. Sadigov added that scientists and young researchers of Sumgayit State University will also actively participate in the study of this topic and the dissemination of its results.
At the presentation, Khalid Niyazov, a member of the Council of Intellectuals of the West Azerbaijan Community, Ramiz Ismayilov, the head of the Sumgayit representation of the West Azerbaijan Community, and Zaur Mammadov, advisor to the rector of the Academy of Public Administration, also spoke and discussed the scientific, legal and moral aspects of the book. They evaluated this publication as a source of strategic importance not only in terms of documenting the past, but also in terms of preserving Western Azerbaijan in the memory of future generations. At the end of the event, it was emphasized that such initiatives are one of the important steps taken towards making the dreams of Western Azerbaijanis to return a reality.
