On March 13, the Department of Mathematics and Informatics Teaching Technology of the Faculty of Mathematics of Sumgayit State University organized an event titled “The Role of Mathematics in Creativity” dedicated to the International Mathematics Day. In addition to the university’s teachers and students, the event was attended by students from other higher education institutions operating in our republic, as well as the teaching and student staff of Sumgayit State Technical College and secondary school students from Sumgayit city. This also allowed different age groups to expand their knowledge about mathematics and its creative applications. The event was opened by the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics Teaching Technology, Associate Professor Maftun Heydarova who welcomed the guests and participants and spoke about the importance of the event organized to increase interest in mathematics. Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Associate Professor Khalida Hasanova spoke about the role of mathematics in all areas of society. She emphasized that mathematics is not limited to the theoretical field, but also forms the basis of creative and practical applications in everyday life. Then, Bahman Gudsi, the senior teacher of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics of Baku Engineering University, who brought innovative approaches to the teaching of mathematics, was awarded the “Dordnishanli” honorary decree and the “Advanced Education Worker” badge by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a wide and interesting presentation on the scientific and life applications of mathematics. Emphasizing the role of analysis, synthesis and creativity in the development of mathematical thinking and creative approaches, Bahman Gudsi explained the importance of using modern teaching methods and innovative approaches. He demonstrated how mathematical creativity can be applied in everyday life through examples. Finally, Bahman Gudsi’s accompaniment on the tar musical instrument concluded with an entertaining motif.
