"National sovereignty: legal and historical perspectives" discussed at SSU
On March 13, the event "National sovereignty: legal and historical perspectives" was held dedicated to the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" at the Heydar Aliyev Center of the Faculty of History and Geography, organized by the Sumgayit State University Student Youth Organization. First, the memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and those who died for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence. At the opening of the event, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov explained in detail the importance of national sovereignty and the constitution, noting that these concepts are the legal and political pillars of the state. He noted that the adoption of the constitution is one of the most important events in the history of our independence, as well as one of the great services of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijani statehood. Elmar Khalilov emphasized that sovereignty reflects not only the control of a state over its territory, but also the independent will of the people aimed at preserving their history, culture and values. Students of the Faculty of History and Geography Rahil Jafarov gave a report on "Sovereignty is a guarantee of independence and our national values", and Kheiransa Agammadzadeh gave a report on "Youth and the role of constitutional knowledge in legal education". The speakers stated that sovereignty is the main factor protecting the existence of every state and that defending the national values of the people is a guarantee of independence. Then, the Dean of the Faculty of History and Geography, Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev spoke extensively about the role of the Constitution in building a legal state and the political and economic importance of restoring sovereignty.
