“Joint Lesson” project at Sumgayit State University: Interactive Teaching Experience for Students
The Faculty of Philology of Sumgayit State University regularly implements the “Joint Lesson” project. Within the framework of this project, faculty teachers collaborate with teachers working in both the university and other higher education institutions and jointly present topics relevant to the content of the subject. In the fall semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, three joint lessons were held at the faculty. On October 28, 2024, a lecture on the topic “Adverb in the Historical Morphology of the Azerbaijani Language” was held by Elnara Ahmadova, a senior lecturer at the Department of Language and Literature, and Sevinj Gambarli, a PhD in Philology at Khazar University. This lecture was an interesting experience for students in terms of learning the historical aspects of the Azerbaijani language. On November 6, 2024, a lecturer at the same department, PhD in Philology, Matanat Maharramova, together with Aytaj Rustamli, a senior lecturer at the Department of Azerbaijani Linguistics at the Azerbaijan University of Languages, presented a lecture in a teleconference format. A. Rustamli and AUL students joined online and held discussions and exchanged views on the topic. On December 23, 2024, in some groups of the Foreign Language Teaching specialty, Nigar Isgandarova, professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, together with Samira Mammadova, associate professor of the Department of History, Geography and Methodology of SSU, presented a lecture in English on the topic “The Unity of American History and American Literature”. The famous works of the Afghan-American writer Khalid Hosseini, “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, were also analyzed in the lesson. It should be noted that in the spring semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, joint lessons are planned with Ilaha Valiyeva, associate professor of the Department of Language and Literature of the faculty and Azizaga Najafov, associate professor of Karabakh University, as well as senior lecturer Aynura Bagirova and senior lecturer of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Matanat Mehdiyeva.
