On December 16, an event on the theme “Post-COP29 Economy: Global Changes and New Perspectives” was held at the center for Sustainable Development of Sumgayit State University, organized by the Excellence Center and the faculty of Economics and Management. The event aimed to discuss the impact of the COP29 summit, which led to global environmental, economic and social changes, on the subsequent period. At the event, senior lecturers of the faculty of Economics and Management Lyudmila Ismayilova and Shohrat Aliyeva spoke and highlighted the results of the COP29 summit, the main issues discussed and the positive results achieved. They noted that by taking on the mission of hosting COP29, Azerbaijan has shown its intention to achieve positive environmental changes and make a great contribution to the international community in this direction. Our country has already made a firm decision to create and develop a “green energy” economy. Thus, our country has targeted a 35 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 1990, and a 40 percent reduction by 2050. Of course, in accordance with the COP29 action plan in our country, various forums, exhibitions and events dedicated to this topic were organized at Sumgayit State University. These events have a positive impact not only on the local level, but also on the joint activities of our country to solve environmental issues and prevent climate change on a global scale. After the speeches, a video clip was shown reflecting the activities and events carried out in our country and Sumgayit State University in connection with COP29.
