On December 13, an information session was held at Sumgayit State University (SSU) as part of the “AzMUN” program, organized by the Union of Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, and the UN Office in Azerbaijan. The session featured a speech by Elmar Khalilov, the Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations at SSU. He highlighted the key directions of youth policy in Azerbaijan, emphasizing the role of youth in the country’s socio-economic development. E.Khalilov stressed the importance of Model UN clubs for revealing the potential of youth and enhancing their oratory skills. He also noted that the “AzMUN” program is vital for developing Azerbaijani youth’s diplomatic capabilities and encouraged students to join. Sabir Sultanov, the head of the “AzMUN” program, delivered a presentation detailing the program’s purpose, action plan, and accomplishments. He outlined how the program helps young people develop diplomatic skills, raise awareness of international issues, and establish active connections. S.Sultanov also underscored the significance of creating Model UN clubs in educational institutions and hosting related conferences. The event concluded with a Model UN simulation game in which students took on the roles of representatives from different countries. They delivered speeches, discussed international issues, and expressed their country’s positions, providing participants with a hands-on experience of diplomacy.
