On December 10, the plenary session of the XXVII Republican Scientific Conference of Doctoral Students and Young Researchers (NASCO XXVII) dedicated to the “Green World Solidarity Year” was held at SSU, jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and Sumgayit State University (SSU), and under the general sponsorship of “SOCAR Polymer” LLC, and sponsored by BP and Nobel Energy companies. Before the event, the conference participants deeply honored the memory of the founder of our independent state, the national leader Heydar Aliyev, and laid flowers in front of the monument located in Sumgayit city. The scientific conference, held with the participation of the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev, rectors of well-known higher education institutions of our republic, prominent scientists, public and political figures, doctoral students and young researchers, began with the voicing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. After the opening ceremony, the respect memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who died for the freedom of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence. Delivering an introductory speech at the event, the rector of SSU, associate professor Rufat Azizov, greeted the guests and participants and expressed his satisfaction with the holding of the next XXVII Republican Scientific Conference of Doctoral Students and Young Researchers at SSU. Rufat Azizov spoke about the large-scale reforms implemented in our country in order to strengthen the interaction between science and education, and spoke about the innovations carried out at Sumgayit State University in this direction, the specialties taught and the work done in connection with the activity of students and graduates in the labor market, and the projects implemented. He noted that today, Sumgayit State University, the only higher education institution in Sumgayit, which is considered the industrial center of our country, is becoming a source of knowledge and experience for the industrial city. Then, the floor was given to the Minister of Science and Education, Mr. Emin Amrullaeva. In his speech, the Minister emphasized that the organization of the 27th conference was highly appreciated, noting that such events have formed a strong and successful tradition in the field of science and created great opportunities for young scientists. Noting that a number of important and successful steps have been taken in our country towards the development of science and education, Mr. Emin Amrullayev said that today the creation of a modern educational infrastructure, expansion of international cooperation in universities and strengthening of scientific and research activities are among the main priorities in this area. Later, Tarlan Suleymanov, a researcher at Oxford University, chief engineer of Oxa, a member of the SSU Academic Advisory Council, delivered a report on “Driverless cars and their application”, and Turan Ahmadova, a doctoral student at the University of South Florida, delivered a report on “Sustainability in educational leadership: contributions, implementation, and impact of decision-making”. After the speeches, the conference concluded with an artistic part and continued its work in sections. It should be noted that 287 theses were submitted to the two-day conference, of which 251 were accepted. The conference will end on December 11.
