On December 4, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) held an event on the topic of “Waste Management” within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” at Sumgayit State University. The event was attended by Mehman Nabiyev, head of the Waste Management Sector of the Environmental Policy department of the MENR, Elnur Aliyev, deputy head of the Environment and Labor Protection department of Tamiz Shahar OJSC, as well as teachers and students of the university studying in the field of ecology. The event was opened by the dean of the faculty of Engineering, associate professor Ulduz Aghayev, who welcomed the guests and participants and spoke about the large-scale events held in our country within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World”. He noted that organizing various events, forums and conferences in this context at Sumgayit State University contributes to environmental protection and ensuring ecological balance. Head of the department of Chemical engineering and ecology associate professor Tunzale Babayeva emphasized the importance of proper waste management and maintaining ecological balance, and spoke about the importance of the event. She also spoke about the significant contributions made by COP29 to initiatives aimed at protecting the environment in Azerbaijan and worldwide. NThen, Mehman Nabiyev, head of the Waste Management sector of the environmental policy department of the MENR, provided information on environmental protection, ecological balance and waste management. He noted that waste management is not only the responsibility of the state and companies, but is a duty that falls on each of us in our daily lives. Elnur Aliyev, deputy head of the Environmental and Labor Protection department of “Clean City” OJSC, made a detailed speech on the activities of the organization, transportation, processing and recycling of waste within the country. At the end of the event, questions asked by the participants were answered and views on environmental protection were exchanged.
