On November 4, a round table dedicated to the commemoration day of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, was organized at the Heydar Aliyev Center of Sumgayit State University (SSU). First, the round table participants commemorated the memory of the great leader with a minute of silence. Opening the event organized by the Excellence Center, vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations of SSU, associate professor Elmar Khalilov spoke about the irreplaceable mission of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the present-day Republic of Azerbaijan, in the history of our people. He pointed out that our people faced difficulties and the economy was in a difficult situation, because the Republic of Armenia occupied more than 20 percent of our country,and the reforms and important work carried out in this challenging period by President Heydar Aliyev were voiced at the event. Our people achieved great successes during that period that many countries in world history could not achieve, the vice-rector stated that the foundation for future victories was laid from that time. Elmar Khalilov emphasized that our country, including the youth of Sumgayit, justified this trust. Director of the Excellence Center of SSU Ali Rzayev noted that the foundation of the Victory in the Patriotic War, which brought our people the brightest victory in the last three hundred years, was laid by our National Leader and implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Then, a group of university students spoke in their speeches about the great responsibilities and future tasks that the National Leader presented to the youth based on the ideology of Azerbaijaniism.
