On October 22, the next meeting of the Scientific Council was held at Sumgait State University. Rector of the university Rufat Azizov declared the meeting open and greeted the members of the council, talked about the main tasks ahead and preparatory work related to accreditation.Then the Scientific Secretary professor Mukhtar Samadov drew attention to the issues on the agenda.Associate professor Elshad Abdullayev, vice-rector for Science and innovations, informed about the student admission forecast plan for the 2025/2026 academic year. He presented the student enrollment forecast for the 2025/2026 academic year in a comparative form with the 2024/2025 academic year plan. He brought into consideration the forecast plan for some new specialties.The forecast plan for student admission for the 2025/2026 academic year was approved and it was decided to submit the forecast plan to the Ministry of Science and Education.The vice-rector, associate professor Elshad Abdullayev, informed about the establishment of the department for the development of educational technologies, and it was decided to establish the department for the development of educational technologies.At the meeting, associate professor Osman Hajiyev, director of the Teaching Methodology Center, informed about the action plan for the organization of distance (online) classes at SSU. He noted that during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the 19th session of the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol and the 6th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (November 14-22, 2024) on dates) at SSU, classes will be organized in a distance (online) format. Osman Hajiyev noted that the university had an organized experience with online education before and that the faculties were given assignments in this regard. Then the Action plan for distance (online) organization of classes at SSU was approved. Academic secretary professor Mukhtar Samadov informed about the discussion of various issues, the approval of the topic of the Ph.D. thesis of Nijat Huseynov, a doctoral student of the department of Energetics, consideration of the appeal of the family of the martyr Devlet Devletzade, the remission of the tuition fee debt of Vusal Hasanov Vugar oglu (participant of the 44-day Patriotic War, 3rd group of war disabled), and granting of publishing rights to educational materials. After the discussions, appropriate decisions were made and permission was given to publish the educational materials presented to the Scientific Council.
