June 26 - on the eve of the "International Day of Combating Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking", a series of events are held by the State Commission's permanent working group together with relevant institutions. In this direction, on June 27, Sumgait State University organized a public lecture on the topic "We say no to drugs" in order to form the anti-narcotic outlook of students.

The Vice Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations of the university Elmar Khalilov opened the lecture and greeted the participants, drug addiction, its consequences, the destructive effect of drugs on the human body, the social evils it causes, the protection of teenagers and young people from drug addiction and other harmful habits, and the growth of the young generation in an educated, patriotic spirit. He spoke about the reforms implemented in the country in the direction of healthy development, the new 2019-2024 State Program on drugs and emphasized the importance of such educational measures. He stated that serious and complex measures are being implemented in the fight against drug addiction in the formation of a healthy society.

Then Tahir Khalilov, head of the Department of Civil Defense, Medical and Physical Training of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, made a speech and called drug addiction the biggest scourge of the century, a social disaster, spoke of the heavy blows it inflicts on the society and brought to the attention of the event participants that the fight against it is the most important issue of the day. He said that the drug not only destroys the person who takes it, but also has a material and moral negative effect on his family members and relatives.

Ilhama Shammadova, senior teacher of the department of civil defense, medical and physical training, gave detailed information about the negative effects of drug addiction on people's lives and health, moral values, methods of combating drug addiction and other issues. She said that the main goal of drug addiction prevention is to create a healthy environment and a healthy future. Therefore, it is necessary to promote a healthy lifestyle in society and in our immediate environment, and to take preventive measures against harmful habits.
