TRAINING ON "SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS" WAS HELD FOR THE ACADEMIC STAFF OF SSU

On June 10, Afgan Bakhshaliyev, an collaborator of the Naftalan section of the Youth Development and Career Center of the Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized a training session on "Sustainable Development Goals" for the university's academic staff, organized by the Center for Sustainable Development at Sumgait State University.
Pointing out that the training was dedicated to an important topic, the director of the center, Nasiba Amirbeyova, spoke about the establishment of the Sustainable Development Center at SSU and the necessity of the first training organized to raise awareness about SDG.
Nasiba Amirbeyova gave information about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN and talked about the work done in the direction of achieving these goals in our country. She said that the UN and its partners are working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan. The regions of Azerbaijan are rapidly developing, modernizing. This is one of the goals of sustainable development. Besides, improving the quality of education and increasing competitiveness in higher education are among the important factors of sustainable development.
After that, trainer Afgan Bakhshaliyev made a comprehensive presentation on "Sustainable development goals", spoke about the integration of sustainable development goals into the activities of higher education institutions and the study of European experience in this direction. He said that the process of globalization and digitization in the world, as in all fields, requires regular renewal of the higher education system. In this direction, education plays an important role in the implementation of sustainable development goals. The 4th goal of SDG is related to quality education. Sustainable development is important for everyone. For this reason, in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development, the process must be supported by both the state and society. The trainer also spoke about SDG - 5 Gender equality.
At the end of the training, there was a broad exchange of ideas on the topic and the participants' questions were answered.
