On June 1, ‘Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’ dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the city of Sumgait, organized by the Department of History of Azerbaijan and East European Peoples of the History and Geography Department of Sumgait State University, as part of the ‘Green World Solidarity Year’. Science Olympiad on the history of Azerbaijan was held among the 9-11th grade students of the city secondary schools.First, the head of the history department of Azerbaijan and Eastern European nations, professor Shirkhan Salimov, greeted the participants and spoke about the importance of the Olympiad, which aims to increase the interest in history among schoolchildren. He said that the purpose of traditionally organizing subject olympiads in SSU is to identify talented students, to provide an opportunity for them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, as well as to expand relations between secondary schools and the university. Wishing success to the students, the professor also emphasized that every young person should know and study their history deeply.
