OUR STUDENT RETURNED FROM THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A GOLD MEDAL

On May 15-19, Vahid Hasanov, a second-year student of the faculty of Natural Sciences of Sumgait State University, wrote a new bright page in the sports history of the university by winning a gold medal in the 80 kg weight class in the 18-21 age category at the 27th European Fudokan Karate Championship in Podčetrtek, Slovenia.
It should be noted that our student-athlete, who returned with victory, was welcomed by the staff of the university at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
On May 22, the rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov, received the European champion Vahid Hasanov on the occasion of his victory. He noted that Sumgait State University achieves great success in science and education as well as in sports life. Advising students to combine educational and sports achievements, the rector said that SSU will support them in every way.
Evaluating the achieved successes as a manifestation of the high state care given to young people, the rector emphasized that our sports students raise the name of our country and the university.
Then the European champion Vahid Hasanov made a speech and expressed his gratitude to the rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov, for the conditions created for student athletes. He noted that Sumgait State University has created all conditions for students to study at a high level, as well as engage in sports and other social activities. Taking advantage of the created conditions, the success of athletes and talented students is increasing day by day.
