On May 4, ‘Annual Forum of Accountants-2024’ was held at SSU under the joint organization of Azerbaijan Accountants and Risk Professionals Association (ARPA) and Sumgait State University (SSU).

The event began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The dear memory of our martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence.

ARPA chairman Gunay Shahbazova opened the forum and stated that the institution she leads was founded in 2009 in order to achieve development in the field of finance and management in the country, and in the field of accounting, it has been accredited as a ‘Professional accountant organization’ since 2019. She stated that the organization of the forum at SSU is within the framework of ARPA's projects planned to be held jointly with higher education institutions of the country. At the end of her speech, the chairman wished the participants success in the panel meetings.

Later, SSU rector, associate professor Rufat Azizov greeted the guests and thanked ARPA for the useful cooperation with the university. Noting the role that similar measures will play in qualitatively changing the content of education, the rector said that accounting work has a special weight in the economic development of society. Noting that the normalization of relations between state bodies and enterprises is one of the main conditions for the reliable development of the economy, Rufat Azizov emphasized that in this case, accountability and mutual trust have become a common practice. On the eve of the important international event - COP29, which will be held in the fall of this year, the importance of the development of the ‘Green economy’ targeted by our country was noted.

Vahid Novruzov, the chairman of the Chamber of Auditors, emphasized that relations with higher education institutions should enter a qualitatively new stage and stated that there is a greater need for higher education institutions that train relevant highly qualified personnel, and suggested that such forums be held every year at SSU.

The forum continued with reports by Firuza Abdullayeva, head of the Accounting Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Samra Abbasova, senior economist of the Central Bank.

Finally, the artistic part took place. In the artistic part, dance numbers were performed with the participation of our talented students. ‘Educational problems of a professional accountant’ moderated by Associate Professor Logman Abdullayev, head of the Forum Accounting and Audit Department, ‘Digital Age of Accounting’ moderated by Abdulkarim Sadigov, senior lecturer of the International Economics and Business Department of UNEC, moderated by Mehdi Babayev, director of ‘Baku Reporting Center’ LLC. It continued with panels on ‘Tax relations-perspectives’.
