From February 22, a series of events dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide are being held at the faculties of Sumgayit State University. In the events held with the participation of teachers and students, the dear memory of our compatriots who were killed during the Khojaly genocide, as well as the sons of the Motherland who died for the freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was commemorated with a minute of silence. Documentary films dedicated to this terrible genocide were shown, reflecting the tragedy. Exhibitions of photos and books were reviewed, literary and artistic compositions dedicated to the Khojaly genocide were performed by students.

Faculty deans and other speakers spoke at the events and talked about the horrors of the Khojaly genocide, written as a black page in the history of the Azerbaijani people, and the path leading to the Khojaly tragedy. They said that in the last two centuries, Armenian nationalists have consistently carried out a policy of terror, mass murder, deportation and ethnic cleansing against our people in order to realize the mythical idea of "great Armenia" at the expense of the historical lands of Azerbaijan. During the tragedy, the city where more than 7,000 people lived was razed to the ground in one night, innocent people, not to mention women, children and the elderly, were killed just because they were Azerbaijanis.

It was also emphasized that after the return of national leader Heydar Aliyev to power, the Khojaly tragedy was given a political and legal assessment. The fair policy of the head of the country, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, regarding the real nature of the Khojaly tragedy and the bitter consequences of Armenian terrorism in the international world, as well as "Justice for Khojaly!" initiated by the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva. In this regard, the purposeful activities carried out within the campaign are of great importance.

As a result of the glorious Victory of the glorious Azerbaijan Army in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev, 30 years of longing ended, our lands were freed from the occupation of the enemy. Today, our people visit the "Ana harayı" monument in Baku with open foreheads, because the enemy took revenge on the victims of the Khojaly genocide, like all our martyrs.
