On February 21, at the Heydar Aliyev Center of Sumgait State University (SSU) and jointly organized by the Institute of Polymer Materials (PMI), dedicated to the ‘Year of Solidarity for the Green World’ of 2024 in the Republic of Azerbaijan, ‘Scientific-research perspectives of young scientists responding to new challenges’ A strategic panel-discussion meeting was held.

The rector of SSU, associate professor Rufat Azizov, general director of the Institute of Polymer Materials, corresponding member of ANAS Bakhtiyar Mammadov, and scientists and researchers of both institutions took part in the event.

The moderator of the event, advisor to the rector, doctor of chemistry Ismayil Ismayilov spoke about the cooperation between SSU and PMI.

Associate Professor Rufat Azizov gave a speech and greeted the participants of the meeting, spoke about the importance of declaring 2024 as the ‘Year of Solidarity for the Green World’, noted that Azerbaijan is among the first countries to join this initiative, and particularly emphasized the activities of young scientists in this field. He said that in connection with the ‘Year of Solidarity for the Green World’, our young scientists are contributing to the construction work of our state by conducting various researches in those regions in connection with the declaration of Karabakh and East Zangezur, as well as the green energy zone of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Then the rector emphasized that the issues discussed at the event on joint cooperation between PMI and SSU on personnel training and scientific research will contribute to the scientific research work of young scientists.

The Rector also drew attention to the fact that in recent years, the transformation of oil capital into human capital has been one of the main priorities of the policy implemented in Azerbaijan. In this direction, the development of the scientific research field at SSU is one of the main goals. One of the main factors ensuring the development of the National Innovation System is the formation and expansion of university-industry cooperation. For the purpose of formation and development of university-industry relations, many works are carried out in our country and at SSU.

Bakhtiyar Mammadov, general director of PMI, corresponding member of ANAS, spoke about the tasks facing higher education institutions and research institutes. He mentioned the cooperation between PMI and SSU in this direction. He noted that all conditions have been created for conducting joint research, training and exchange of scientific personnel, preparation of joint research projects within the framework of mutual interests between both institutions, and highly appreciated today's event. Emphasizing that the results of the conducted research will be a great contribution to chemical science, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organization of the event.

Then scientific reports were heard. There was a broad exchange of ideas around the reports, the implementation of scientific research works in the direction of developing the scientific potential between SSU and PMI was emphasized.
