As we previously reported, Sumgayit State University (SSU) won the 2022 ERASMUS+ program KA2 activity category of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) ‘Improving green and sustainable global economy in Azerbaijan universities: Renewable energy and reducing climate change (REFRESH)’ is one of the partners of the project.

In order to study the experiences of UNIBO in the development of a green and sustainable economy, a business trip was organized to the University of Bologna, Italy (UNIBO) within the project on December 3-9 of the current year.

On the first day of the training program, a meeting was held with UNIBO professors and teachers responsible for international affairs and Azerbaijani (local) higher education institutions that are members of the REFRESH project consortium. In the second part of the meeting, the representatives of local higher education institutions informed the foreign audience about detailed information about the universities they represent, their successes and the steps they will take during the REFRESH project. In the following days of the mentioned training program, the faculty of UNIBO's industrial engineering department (Matteo Gherardi, Andrea De Pascale, Beatrice Pulvirenti, Alberto Borghetti) gave seminars to the representatives of Azerbaijan higher education institutions about their activities for the development of green and sustainable energy. In addition, UNIBO research and innovation center employees (Livia Mercatelli e Franca Maria Mura, Samuele Giangrande, Natalia Rossi, Giuseppe Nottola) gave a presentation on the development of the research and innovation field at UNIBO and answered their questions. On the last day of the training program, representatives of Azerbaijani higher education institutions held a final meeting with representatives of UNIBO on the REFRESH project in order to determine the next steps of the project.

It should be noted that associate professor Turgay Huseynov, head of the Department of Electromechanics, participated in the trainings from SSU.
