THE NEXT MEETİNG OF THE ACADEMİC COUNCİL AT SSU
On November 29, the next meeting of the Scientific Council was held at Sumgayit State University. Rector of the university Rufat Azizov declared the meeting open and greeted the members of the council, expressed deep condolences to the family and staff of Zohra Gafarova, head teacher of the Department of Literature of Azerbaijan and Foreign Countries of the Faculty of Philology, who passed away recently.
Then the Scientific Secretary Professor Mukhtar Samadov drew attention to the issues on the agenda.
Rector's advisor Konul Abasli spoke about the presentation of the plan for the implementation of the recommendations indicated in the final report of the Accreditation Commission and the presentation of the initial version of the Strategic Development Plan of SSU for 2024-2030.
Sadagat Fatullayeva, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Foreign Students, made a presentation on the profile of SSU in international summarizing and indexing systems that Sumgayit State University has risen from the 52nd position on the National Hirsh index to the 36th position as a result of the measures taken, and 8 positions have been recorded in the Scopus index and 6 positions in the Web of Science index.
The Rector's Adviser Elshad Abdullayev, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Foreign Students Sadagat Fatullayeva and Head of the Scientific Department Samir Orujov were assigned to prepare the appropriate mechanism for awarding the authors whose articles are published in the journals included in the international summarizing and indexing systems.
Associate Professor Sabir Khalilov, head of the Department of Doctoral Studies and Master's Studies, informed about the results of the attestations of master's, doctoral and doctoral students of SSU. He instructed the heads of departments, faculty deans, scientific supervisors of doctoral students and dissertations to conduct individual work with doctoral students and dissertation students who did not defend their dissertations on time, and to assist them in the preliminary discussion of their dissertation works.
Associate Professor Ulduz Agayev, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, spoke about the international accreditation of SSU's engineering programs. He noted that the Accreditation Agency (ASIIN) located in the city of Dusseldorf, Federal Republic of Germany, conducted analyzes for the international accreditation of the Computer Engineering, Information Technologies, Process Automation Engineering majors of the Faculty of Engineering on October 10-13, 2023.
During the discussion of various issues, it was decided to exempt Banu Maharram gizi Ibadova, a member of the Shahid family, a third-year student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology, group No. 340-1, from paying the tuition fee.
Scientific secretary Professor Mukhtar Samadov spoke about the approval of the topic and scientific supervisors of the dissertations of the employees admitted to the doctorate program for the Doctor of Philosophy program, the granting of publishing rights (grif) and scientific titles to teaching materials.
The rector gave appropriate recommendations and assignments to the heads of the structural units on the discussed issues, thus the meeting of the Scientific Council ended.
