On October 20, Vice Mayor of Xian, People"s Republic of China Wang Xiaolin, who visited Sumgait with a delegation, after receiving the head of Executive Power Mr. Zakir Farajov, first deputy of city executive power Teymur Samadov and other representatives visited Sumgait State University, the only higher education institution of the city.

Rector of the university Rufat Azizov received Vice Mayor of Xi"an City of the People"s Republic of China Wang Xiaolin and his delegation and expressed his satisfaction to see them at the university. He said that currently friendly relations between Azerbaijan and China are successfully developing in the field of education as well as in all fields. Also, the rector spoke about the activities and international relations of SSU. He noted that important steps have been taken in the direction of education development in the country in recent years. The normative legal basis of education is being improved, extensive measures are being implemented based on the decrees of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the direction of material and technical support. In this direction, Sumgayit State University is expanding its international relations day by day, taking important successful steps in the direction of teacher-student mobility. In order to train highly qualified personnel, SSU cooperates closely with many leading higher education institutions of the world.

Wang Xiaolini expressed his satisfaction to Rector Rufat Azizov for the sincere reception and noted that the holding of such meetings will contribute to the strengthening of Azerbaijan-China relations and the deepening of cooperation between the two countries.

After the meeting, the guests visited the administrative building of the university, the Heydar Aliyev Center operating here, "Code Academy", separate auditoriums, laboratories and teaching rooms. During the introduction with Sumgayit State University, detailed information was given about the material and technical base of the educational institution. It was noted that more than 6,000 students master the secrets of science at the university. They exchanged views on future cooperation between Sumgayit State University and Chinese universities.
