INTERNATIONAL TEACHERS' DAY WAS CELEBRATED AT SSU

On October 5, Sumgayit State University held an event related to the International Teachers" Day.

Rector of the university Rufat Azizov opened the event with his opening speech and conveyed his best wishes to the teaching staff and wished them success in their difficult and honorable work. Rufat Azizov spoke about the multifaceted educational reforms carried out in the country and the importance of joint and effective activities for the development of SSU. He said that the teaching profession is considered one of the honorable professions in the society. Because society is formed as a result of teachers" work. Such people develop the society, strengthen the country and the state.

The name of teacher has always been held high in the national thinking of the Azerbaijani people, and great respect has been shown to the teachers. The National Leader Heydar Aliyev always highly valued the name of teacher, the rector spoke about the favorable opportunities created for the improvement of the social welfare and all-round development of teachers as a result of the significant changes implemented in the field of education under the leadership of president Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

He pointed out that Sumgayit State University carries out teacher training for Sumgayit city and region and successfully continues its mission of training professional staff. I am sure that this higher education institution will continue to train of highly professional and competent specialists in accordance with modern global challenges, to the continuous development of human capital, and to the formation of a scientific and intellectual environment.

In his speech, the rector also emphasized that great work is being implemented to increase the reputation of the teaching profession in Azerbaijan. One of the main goals and objectives of the large-scale reforms carried out by the Ministry of Science and Education is the training of highly qualified pedagogical personnel who meet the requirements of the modern labor market and increasing the public reputation of the teaching profession in society. We believe that as a result of purposeful activities and effective practical measures, our country will achieve greater success in the field of education, including teacher training.

Also, the rector pointed out that the main goals are to improve the quality of teaching in the university, to increase the level of professionalism of teachers and management staff, and other important directions for the students studying Pedagogical specialization to pass the Certification.

Later, a group of teachers were awarded with Honorary diplomas and gifts by the university management for their high activity in the public life of the university and their effective scientific and pedagogical activities.

Then rector Rufat Azizov congratulated Honored teacher, professor Zafar Huseynov for his long-term effective scientific and pedagogical activity, active participation in the public affairs of the university and on the occasion of the 70th anniversary, and awarded him with an Honorary diploma and a monetary award. He noted that the scientist who devoted a large part of his life to the teaching of exact sciences, the scientific research of this field and, is the author of dozens of textbooks, teaching aids and numerous scientific articles.

Professor Zafar Huseynov talked about his teaching career and expressed his gratitude to the university management for the attention.
