On November 26, the President of Azerbaijan Republic ordered  "Tocelebrate 160 year jubilee of General Samad Bey Mehmandarov". According to the Order our university held a ceremony in the library  jointly organized by the Faculty of History and Geography. Opening the meeting, the dean of the Faculty of History and Geography, Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev gave information about  the great son of Azerbaijan, the Russian Imperial Army artillery general, Minister of Military of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan Samad Bey Mehmandarov. It should be  noted that general Mehmandarov had done the greatest contribution to the history of the country  at times of forming the Government of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on 25 December 1918 and taking the post of Minister of the Military,  and creation of an army of 40 thousand militaries. General Samad Bey Mehmandarov with high professionalism and devotion to honor of officers wrote memorable pages in the history of the Azerbaijani people. Ancient History lecturer PhD Samir Kerimli spoke about the glorious life of general Mehmandarov and his entering to the II artillery school of Konstantinovka in St. Petersburg at the age of 16, in December 1875, received the rank of Lieutenant and the  third class "Saint Stanislav "Order has been promoted to the rank of major-general. He was awarded to all Russian military orders, as well as Britain, France and Romania and several military orders.

Fourth-year student of the Faculty of History and Geography  Kamala Samadova spoke about life and work of S.Mehmandarov and his proud to reach the position of artillery general.

During the meeting, was presented the film dedicated to the life and activity   of the Defense Minister of the Democratic Republic   Samed Bey dedicated to the life and activityof  S.Mehmandarov.
