On May 6, at the Scientific Library of Sumgayit State University "What? Where? When?" intellectual knowledge competition was held.

Teams consisting of students from 7 faculties of SSU and STUC under SSU took part in the competition.

Elmar Khalilov, vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations, opened the event, noting the importance of the competition and drawing attention to the goals of the youth policy implemented in the country, the active participation of youth organizations and young people in the implementation of this policy, and the creation of necessary conditions for their comprehensive development. He stated that holding the intellectual competition aimed to study the life and activities of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, to preserve the Great Leader's legacy and promote it among young people, and at the same time, to increase the interest of the young generation in science and educational competitions. The vice - rector also noted that the implementation of the State Programs signed by the President  Ilham  Aliyev impact on  the further development of the youth policy in the country. In this direction, several measures have been done in terms of improving the normative and legal framework, developing the intellectual and creative potential of young people, and ensuring their active participation in economic processes. Also, the participation of young people in governance and the development of civil society have been strengthened. An intelligent young generation has been formed in Azerbaijan. Today, we have young people who hold the name of Azerbaijan high in our country and in the world with their knowledge and skills.

At the end of his speech, the vice-rector emphasized the importance of making such competitions traditional and wished success to the participants.

Then, Tayfun Hajılı, the chairman of SSU STUC, made a speech and said that special attention is paid to the development of education in our country. He drew attention to the knowledge competitions in the development of students' knowledge, thinking skills, and  logical thinking.

In the knowledge competition, the teams answered questions about the life and activities of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev. The answers of the teams were noted and evaluated by the jury.

The winning teams were determined. According to the results of the competition, the team of the faculty of History and geography was awarded the 1st place, the team of the Mathematics faculty  was awarded the 2nd place, and the team of the faculty of Economics and management was awarded the 3rd place.
