Nowruz holiday is the favorite holiday of our people. For centuries, the people of Azerbaijan have celebrated Novruz holiday. The Novruz holiday, which has its origins in the deepest layers of the past, is still celebrated today as the spiritual wealth of the Azerbaijani people. Nowruz holiday has become an expression of our attachment to the historical and cultural heritage.

Thanks to Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, after our republic regained its independence, our people started to celebrate Novruz holiday, which is an example of their customs, national values, love for human and nature, with great pleasure. Because it was thanks to National Leader Heydar Aliyev that Novruz, our national holiday, as a part of the general cultural movement  began to be celebrated massively in the 70s and 80s of the last century compared to previous times. During the leadership of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to independent Azerbaijan, Novruz celebrations entered the life of our people for all. Today, the worthy follower of the political course of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, Commander-in-Chief of our nation president Ilham Aliyev pays special attention to our cultural and spiritual heritage, ensures that the Nowruz holiday is held at a high level every year. The return of our ancient Karabakh lands after a 30-year break thanks to the wise efforts of our head of state and the bravery of our sons enriched to our holiday.

On this festive day, Sumgayit State University rector professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated all the employees of the university, wished them abundant sustenance, blessing, and new achievements and pleased them with a cash prize as a holiday gift.

We should note  that according to the relevant Order signed by the rector of SSU professor Elkhan Huseynov, in order to improve the social condition of employees, financial assistance is provided to all collaborators of the university every year before the New Year, on the eve of Novruz, Ramadan, and Eid holidays, which is welcomed by the collective.
