THE MINI-FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT BETWEEN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS DEDICATED TO THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF SSU WAS CONCLUDED
The development of sports and the strengthening of moral education of the young generation have become one of the important priorities of the state policy. Our state"s attention to this field is accompanied by great achievements in sports. Inspired by high attention and care, our student-athletes represent our country and university well and win many medals.
On December 3, in connection with the 60th anniversary of Sumgayit State University, among the students of higher education institutions with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Workers, AFFA, the Public Union of the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation and "Azfar Group" CJSC the mini-football national championship was started. Sumgayit State University"s mini-football team also participated in the championship among 16 teams.
On December 20, the mini-football tournament was concluded. In the final stage of the tournament, Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sports and students of Baku State University met.
Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sports won the match with a score of 2:1.
An award ceremony was held at the end of the tournament. Prizes were presented to the winners of the competition"s best goalkeeper, best defender and best striker.
Officials of the Ministry of Science and Education, Sumgayit State University, AFFA and other institutions presented the awards to athletes.
We should note that the main goal of the championship is to promote the sport of mini-football among students of higher education institutions, to identify promising athletes and to create a basis for their involvement in professional teams.
