According to the Decree of the President of the country Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated December 3, 2020, Victory Day is solemnly celebrated at the national level in order to perpetuate this victory which became a celebration of the power and national pride of our people. A series of events are also held at Sumgayit State University.

On November 4, at the events held in the faculties of Economics and Management, Engineering, History and geography and Philology, the deans of the faculties spoke about the Great Victory won by the brave Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the 44-day long Patriotic war and its historical importance. They said that our history of Victory is the most glorious page of our century-long history, once again demonstrated to the world the national spirit of our people united around the Iron Fist, and the solidarity of our nation. We obliged for this Victory to our determined Commander-in-Chief , to the brave Azerbaijani Army, martyrs   and veterans who gave their lives for the Motherland.

At the event speakers said that Azerbaijan fulfilled its historical mission by expelling the enemy from its native land, restored territorial integrity and historical justice. If we speak about this in the words of President Mr. Ilham Aliyev in his address to the people, "We are right, we are fighting on our land, we are martyrs on our land. Our war is a holy war!"

At the event, they added that today we are proudly celebrating the Victory Day in our ancient lands, in Shusha, on the Cidir Plain.

At the events, patriotic poems were performed by students, and videos depicting the Victory Road were shown.
