On November 2, in accordance with the approved Event Plan on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Sumgayit State University a drawing and handicrafts competition was held among students on the theme "My native university".

The purpose of the competition is to highlight the historical path of SSU reveal talented young people, develop their skills and motivate them by reflecting their ideas and views.

The exhibition featured 30 artworks made by students. Each of these works attracted attention with its unique color tone, idea and theme, and the content of the paintings reflected university life.

Rector professor Elkhan  Huseynov made a speech and reviewed the history of the 60-year-old university. He talked about the work done at the university, exchange programs, innovations, strategic development plan, activities of the higher school in the field  of teaching, scientific research, international relations, reforms and development stages of the higher educational institution. He said that since its establishment, Sumgayit State University has always fulfilled its duties properly and has successfully carried out training qualified staff  for our republic. Talking about the importance of holding various events related to the anniversary, the rector also highly appreciated the competition of students" handicrafts and paintings.

In the end, Nizami Dadashov, the scenic designer of the Sumgayit State Drama Theater, winner of the "Taraggi" medal, Arif Muzaffarov, the artist of the theater, winner of the "Taraggi" medal, and Subhana Mammadli, the developer artist of the club of the university, evaluated the students" handiwork by secret voting on a 10-point system.

According to the results of the competition, Jeyran Mammadova- a 4th-year student of the faculty of Engineering, won 1st place, Aytaj Mammadova- a 2nd-year student of the faculty of Engineering, and Sabina Guliyeva- a 1st-year student of the faculty of History and geography  took 2nd place, and Kamala Ibishli - a 4th-year student of the faculty of Economics and management  was awarded the third place.
