On July 18, 2022, a certificate presentation ceremony was held at Sumgayit State University to the participants who successfully completed the 2nd stage of the "English for Academic Purposes" training within the framework of the programs implemented by the US Embassy in Azerbaijan in the field of science, culture and education.

Gafar Atayev, vice-rector for International relations opened the event with an introductory speech and conveyed the greetings of the  rector of SSU  professor Elkhan Huseynov  to the participants of the event. He spoke about the importance of academic mobility in the direction of internationalization, master"s studies abroad, dual diploma programs. He especially emphasized the importance of the "English for Academic Purposes" training organized by the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, for our university  as internationalization in higher education 

He noted that from February 21, 2022, 22 people from 7 faculties were awarded  with  certificates who participated  in the second stage  of the training for the academic staff of SSU within the framework of the "Fellowship" program with the financial support of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan and the initiative of the department of International cooperation and foreign students of SSU.  He greeted the participants of the event and introduced  Geoffrey Anisman   an adviser on Public relations of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, Sabina Abdullayeva  the manager of the "Virtual English Language" program  who came to SSU for the presentation of certificates and asked to convey our   regards  and gratitude to  Lee Litsenberger ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the US in  the Republic of Azerbaijan for his support in organizing the training. 

Then the floor was given to Mr. G. Anisman. He, in turn, drew attention to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Republic of Azerbaijan this year and spoke about the dynamic development of cooperation in the field of education between our countries, and the close relations that have emerged with SSU in recent years.

Then, at the end of the training conducted by Michael Moak, a specialist in English language teaching methodology and "TESOL", a final exam consisting of an online test, exercise and essay was held and certificates were presented to the participants with a high success rate.

Faculty deans,  heads of the department , university employees who successfully completed the 2nd stage of "Academic English" training took part in the meeting.
