Cities are known  for their universities, and universities for their scholars and graduates. Among the graduates of Sumgayit State University  which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, there are quite a few influential specialists and professional personnel of the country. They perform leadership positions in different state institutions, contribute to the economic, social and cultural revival and development of the republic.

On July 5, in connection with the anniversary, a group of teachers of the university visited  Guba and met with the employees of the Guba-Khachmaz Regional Education Department, representatives from Gusar district high schools and graduates of SSU.

The  meeting  which took place at the No. 2 science-oriented high school named after Azad Mammadov the following participated: employees of the Guba-Khachmaz Regional Education Department, Guba intellectuals, district education workers who graduated from SSU in different years, senior students of general education schools, including employees of Sumgayit State University associate professor Nemat Ibayev  the chairman of the Trade Union Committee, associate professor Amirkhan Isayev, head of the Career center of the university  Ali Rzazadeh, head lecturer  of the department of Azerbaijani Language and its teaching methodology  Araz Mirzabayov, deputy dean of the faculty of Economics and Management, and Elmin Novruzlu  chairman of the Student Youth Organization.

At the meeting, first of all, the souls of our martyrs, who died for the freedom of our land, were commemorated with a minute of silence.

Later, Rufat Hajiyev  the head of the Guba-Khachmaz Regional Education Department opened the event with a speech  congratulating the university team on the occasion of its 60th anniversary  which will be celebrated this year, and wished them new achievements. Rufat Hajiyev said in his speech that Sumgayit State University has made great progress since its establishment and become one of the leading higher education institutions and science centers of Azerbaijan.

Then, the chairman of the TUC of SSU  associate professor Nemat Ibayev spoke and greeted the event participants, spoke about the university's 60-year development path, history, successes achieved during these years, and future tasks. The main reason for these successes is to constantly innovate, to be based on innovative traditions and to keep up with the unique pace of the times. In the field of science and education, the reforms, multi-directional relations, regularly strengthened material and technical base, reconstruction and beautification works are aimed at the general development of the university, raising the intellectual level of the young generation, and rejuvenating the scientific-pedagogical staff. In the 60-year history of the university since 2015, for the first time, it has been accepted for personnel training on the Doctor of Sciences program in various scientific fields and specialties. Currently, many employees are conducting scientific research  on the doctor of sciences program and they represent the university in prestigious foreign scientific journals, international symposiums and conferences.

At the meeting, the director of the Career center of  SSU  associate professor Amirkhan Isayev and senior lecturer , writer-publicist Ali Rzazade, deputy dean of the faculty of Economics and Management Araz Mirzabayov also spoke in their turn and stated that  the wide-profile Sumgayit State University prepares qualified personnel for enterprises working with technology in accordance with the requirements of modern world standards. During all periods of its activity the university provided highly qualified personnel to the industrial enterprises not only of Azerbaijan, but also of the former Soviet Union, as well as a number of foreign countries, and made valuable contributions to the development of the intellectual potential of our country.

The speakers also noted that Sumgayit State University  by the management of the university  renews its personnel potential every year with its own students. The involvement of young personnel and specialists in the educational process demonstrates once again that these successes are sustainable.

 Chairman of SYO Elmin Novruzlu also spoke about the attention and care given to the youth at the university, he said that the youth of SSU are always loyal to the legacy of Heydar Aliyev, make great efforts for the sake of the bright future of our state and the development of our homeland, and work to justify the trust shown by the President Mr. Ilham  Aliyev. 

At the meeting, educated people  of Guba, as well as educational workers of the district who graduated from SSU  congratulated the many thousand employees of the university on the occasion of the jubilee, talked about pleasant memories of the SSU where they studied, and expressed their endless gratitude to the management and teachers of the university. 

Director Rakhshenda Bayramova Guba city "Genocide Memorial Complex" shared her memories about Sumgayit State University where she graduated, saying: "Sumgayit State University is  dear to me. I think the university not only gave us education, but also shaped us as personalities. I believe that each of us will raise the name of our university with our own activities."

Then a video about the activities of the university and its achievements was shown, and gifts were presented to a group of university graduates on behalf of the management of SSU.
